Introduction

Since it conception in 1954 the Fender Stratocaster has rightfully become one of the most recognisable and popular guitars in the world. It is a superb instrument and has a unique sound. However its Achilles heel has to be its screw in tremolo arm, it swings down when released and has a set height, which does not suit everyone. A small spring can be fitted in the tremolo unit to tension the arm but this can become jammed and damage the thread. Also, because the arm rotates about the thread, eventually this wears and the arm becomes very sloppy and ultimately the tremolo bridge has to be replaced and this can be costly.
